Description:	Labelcode 59002542 Wegen einer Kollision beim Formel 1-Auftakt in Monaco, die seinem Teamkollegen Scott Stoddard fast das Leben kostet, wird der amerikanische Jordan-BRM-Fahrer Pete Aron gefeuert und die Saison scheint für ihn so gut wie beendet. Er kommt beim japanischen Team Yamura unter und kann sowohl die nächsten beiden Rennen als auch das Herz von Stoddards Frau Pat gewinnen. Stoddard selbst gewinnt nach seiner Gesundung mehrere Rennen und wird so zum schärfsten Konkurrenten im Kampf um den Weltmeistertitel, für den das letzte Rennen in Monza die Entscheidung bringt. Von bleibenderer Erinnerung als der Plot, der sich um die Liebesgeschichten mehrerer Formel 1-Piloten rankt, sind die Rennaufnahmen des 1966 entstandenen Films von John Frankenheimer, die teilweise aus dem Cockpit bei Originalgeschwindigkeit gedreht wurden. Nach anfänglicher Skepsis der Teams zeigten diese sich durch die Probeaufnahmen so begeistert, dass mit ihrer Unterstützung auf Originalkursen u.a. in Monaco, Spa und Monza gedreht werden konnte. Während in den Nebenrollen zahlreiche echte Rennfahrer wie Graham Hill zu sehen sind, ließ es sich Hauptdarsteller James Garner nicht nehmen, in seinen Szenen selbst am Steuer zu sitzen.
